Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of qualifying experience are: Experience in developing and implementing safety and occupational health standards, regulations, practices and procedures to eliminate or control potential hazards. Experience developing and implementing programs to reduce the frequency, severity and cost of accidents and occupational illnesses. Experience which demonstrates expert knowledge in the safety field to research, propose and develop national occupational safety policy. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities. **Your eligibility for consideration will be based on your responses to the questions in the application.**\n\nCorrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities.\n\nServes as the subject matter expert and authority for the Federal Bureau of Prisons on the development and implementation of the occupational safety program and provides technical advice, assistance and direction to Bureau staff at all levels regarding compliance with the following standards and regulations: Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO), American Correctional Association (ACA), National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and Occupation Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) 18001. Provides national leadership and technical direction regarding the application and effect of legislation, Executive Orders, Department of Justice (DOJ) and BOP policies relating to occupational safety.\n\nSee Qualifications Section for education requirements, if applicable.
