Join us.\n\n## Job Description\n\nAECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Senior Fluvial Geomorphologist for employment in Canada. This is a new position as part of our ongoing expansion of fluvial geomorphology expertise in environmental and engineering projects. The successful applicant will be a motivated individual, excited to contribute to the growth of AECOM’s fluvial geomorphology practice area across Canada.\n\nThe fluvial geomorphologist will work with AECOM’s team of geomorphologists, hydraulic engineers, and ecologists to deliver a variety of stream restoration projects, including:\n\n- Restoration of natural processes and habitat conditions\n- Erosion control and fish passage improvements\n- Assisting with hazard identification\n- Facilitating infrastructure improvements\n\nResponsibilities\n\nThe responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:\n\n- Utilizing scientific principles, theories, practices, and technologies to develop solutions for technical problems of limited scope\n- Collecting and entering data, applying technical principles and theories\n- Interpreting and recording data, conducting analyses, and comparing findings to relevant studies and local, provincial, and federal regulations to ensure compliance\n- Leading ‘Natural Channel Design’ and stream restoration projects, completing assessments on existing and proposed conditions to provide enhancement recommendations and design input\n- Conducting detailed field investigations and assessments, including sediment transport and scour analysis\n- Analyzing and interpreting geomorphic and hydraulic data\n- Writing and reviewing technical reports\n- Collaborating across offices and disciplines in Canada, and participating in meetings with clients and stakeholders\n\n## Qualifications\n\nMinimum Requirements\n\n- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline (e.g., geomorphology, river engineering, earth science)\n- Minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience\n- Familiarity with GIS and CAD software\n- Knowledge of fluvial form, processes, and functions, including their dependence on local physiography and influence on ecological habitats\n- Experience with river and stream channel hydraulics and channel stability analysis\n- Experience in environmental data collection, identification, investigation, data entry, and assessments\n- Experience developing stream restoration and enhancement recommendations\n- Ability to travel, including to remote areas, and efficiently conduct fieldwork\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\n- Master’s degree specializing in fluvial geomorphology is an asset\n- 10 years + of relevant work experience\n- Familiarity with Natural Channel Design approaches, from concept development through detailed design, construction implementation, and monitoring\n- Experience using GIS and hydraulic modeling applications for study design and data analysis\n- Geohazard mapping and slope stability analysis experience\n- Excellent written and oral communication skills\n- Experience with proposal writing and/or project management\n- Strong attention to detail\n- Ability to manage personal project workload and meet deadlines\n- Eligibility for professional registration (P.Geo. and/or P.Eng.)\n\n## Additional Information\n\nAbout AECOM \n\nAECOM is proud to offer comprehensive benefits to meet the diverse needs of our employees.
